Love is Love.

In the heart of the NFT wave in November 2021, amid the frenzy of pfp projects, I found an opening for artistic expression through generative layers. I was fascinated by the technology but not fully convinced by how it was mostly being used, so I shaped it toward something personal, a system that could echo my beliefs, sentiments, and sense of care.

Love is Love became more than a series of generative artworks. I made it as a statement, a belief, and a celebration of love in all its forms and colors, a way of speaking for love equality while humanizing the abstract language of generative art.

The details carried that tenderness into the mechanics of the drop. I set the mint price at 0.05683 ETH because 5683 maps to L-O-V-E on an old phone keypad.

The project sold out within an hour and reached collectors beyond the crypto-native audience, including Idris Elba, who bought three Love is Love NFTs as his very first NFTs.

It was also my first foray into generative art, and it opened a path toward using art and technology together as a form of visual poetry.

Alongside the sold 1/1 work The Kiss, I released 500 generative editions. The system recombines the same figures and palettes, so each piece is a variation on one idea rather than a separate work. A few are shown here, and the full set lives on-chain.

Love, whether platonic, romantic, or self-love, is an intrinsic part of human experience. So much joy and pain stems from love, and I keep asking why anyone should have their experience denied or be told that the love they have is wrong.

Life can already be painful and the world can be harsh. Whatever someone's gender or race, I hold to a simple grace, that people should be able to choose who they go through it with. Love is love, to anyone who finds it.
