Vogue’s First-Ever Digital NFT Cover
A milestone in my journey, this collaboration with Vogue Singapore marked the realization of a long-held dream. The September 2021 cover was an exceptional project for me, as it was the perfect amalgamation of my past experience in fashion and advertising photography, and my newfound love for digital human creation and NFTs.
My path into the world of digital humans began in the challenging circumstances of 2020's lockdown. With the world frozen in time, my creativity found new avenues. I began creating digital humans and used these fascinating entities to produce artwork that I later sold as NFTs. The unique blend of technology and creativity caught the eyes of many and set the stage for an unexpected opportunity.
As whispers of Vogue Singapore's interest in NFTs reached me in 2021, I felt an irresistible need to reach out. I expressed my interest, drawn by the potential to combine my background in fashion and new age artistry. Their positive response marked the start of a remarkable collaboration. It was a euphoric moment, a dream coming true. I was finally going to work on a Vogue cover, and not just any cover, but the first Vogue NFT cover.
The timing and theme couldn't have been more apt. September, traditionally a high season for fashion, signifies new trends, styles, and consumer habits. The chosen theme for Vogue's 2021 September issue was "New Beginnings" — a perfect reflection of my personal journey and the evolving art world.
The project involved creating an NFT collection inspired by this theme of 'New Beginnings'. Collaborating with the digital fashion house, The Fabricant, we developed two digital-only covers, along with eight additional artworks that encapsulate the essence of fashion, beauty, and art. These pieces were not just artworks but were pieces of Vogue's history.
The final result was a celebration of the creative renaissance sparked by NFTs. It was a testament to the possibilities that emerge when we embrace change and innovation. This project was a new beginning for me, and I believe, a new beginning for the fashion and art world. It remains a testament to the endless possibilities that creativity and technology together can achieve.
